Dr. Anthony C. Cahan earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1982 after completing his undergraduate education at Hampshire College in Massachusetts. At Cornell, he received the Alfred Moritz Michaelis Prize for Efficiency in Medicine. His post-graduate training included an internship and residency in general surgery at The New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical College, where he focused on surgical oncology, vascular procedures and endoscopic techniques. Among his many research projects were cancer studies conducted at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Beth Israel Hospital.
A board-certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Cahan is a member of several professional medical societies, including the American Medical Association, New York State/County Medical Society, New York Surgical Society, New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group, and Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Cahan is currently the Chief of Breast Surgical Services at Northern Westchester Hospital. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College and an adjunct Clinical Professor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical College. He served as Physician-In-Charge of The Robert and Helen Appel Comprehensive Breast Service at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York from 1989-2002. He was the Associate Director of The High Risk Breast Clinic at The Strang Cancer Prevention Institute from 1987-1994. He is affiliated with Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY.
Dr. Karen S. Arthur completed undergraduate and premedical training at Tufts University and Rutgers University before earning her medical degree from Mt. Sinai College of Medicine in New York in 1974. She went on to complete residency training in general surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Board-certified in surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Arthur maintains several professional memberships. These include the American Women's Association and the Northeast Permanente Medical Group, for which she served as a member of the Board of Directors from 1988-1993.
Before joining the Breast Implant Care team, Dr. Arthur provided services as the Chief of the Department of Surgery at The Westchester Medical Group, Chief of the Department of Surgery at Northeast Permanente Medical Group, and a partner at Southern California Permanente Medical Group. She was a clinical instructor in surgery at the University of California – Irvine from 1979-1987.
