Face Lift

new york ny Westchester Mount kisco White plains plastic surgery plastic surgeon cosmetic surgery faceliftIn time, gravity, sun exposure, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces: deep creases appear beside the mouth, the jaw line slackens, and folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. Facelifts counteract these problems by removing fat and tightening skin and muscles, giving your face a fresher, youthful look. After surgery, some patients appear 10-15 years younger.

A facelift can be combined with a browlift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping for more dramatic results, or it can be restricted to the neck (necklift) if the patient’s problems center there. Incisions are made in inconspicuous places such as behind the hairline and in natural folds of the face and ears, and scars fade to near invisibility in time. Results of a facelift do not last forever, but in another sense, the effects are permanent; years later, your face will continue to look better than if you had never had the procedure.

Rhinoplasty

One of the most common plastic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty is performed to reshape, reduce or augment a person’s nose, remove a hump, narrow nostril width, change the angle between the nose and the mouth, or to correct injury, birth defects, or other problems that affect breathing. Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure performed under either local or general anesthesia and lasts one to two hours.

Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. Blepharoplasty can be combined with BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes.

Incisions are made along the eyelids in inconspicuous places (in the creases of the upper lids, and just below the lashes on the lower lids). The surgeon removes excess tissue through these incisions and then stitches them closed with fine sutures. In the case that no skin needs to be removed, the surgeon will likely perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, where the incision is made inside the lower eyelid and there are no visible scars.

Stitches are removed after three or four days and most people return to work in ten. Contact lenses may not be worn for two weeks. The effects of blepharoplasty can last for a long time and are sometimes even permanent.

Chin Surgery

Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone. Many times a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose. Chin surgery helps provide a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel better about the way you look.

Brow Lift

new york ny Westchester Mount kisco White plains plastic surgery plastic surgeon cosmetic surgery browliftBrowlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, browlifts involve the removal or alteration of the muscles above the eyes to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face.

While browlifts are typically performed on patients aged 40-60 to counteract the effects of aging, anyone with lined or inelastic skin on the forehead – whether it’s caused by muscle activity or inherited conditions – are eligible. The procedure is usually performed in an office-based facility or surgery center under local anesthesia and sedation.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.

Fat Grafts

new york ny Westchester Mount kisco White plains plastic surgery plastic surgeon cosmetic surgery fat graftingSurgeons often fill frown lines with fat to decrease the appearance of lines between the eyebrows. The grafts are either injections of fat or strips of fat, often harvested from skin left over after a face-lift. Large grafts may absorb but smaller grafts are more likely to succeed and be permanent. Even if the graft absorbs there is usually some improvement due to the release of fibrous bands and scar tissue.

When fat is introduced under the skin, the fat closest to the surrounding tissue picks up a blood supply more quickly and so is likely to survive. Fat in the center of the graft may not get a new blood supply and may die (necrose) and eventually be converted to scar tissue. This may be lumpy. Fat grafts are not new and in one form or another have been in use for over a hundred years.

Contour Thread Lift™

For patients who desire a younger appearance of the mid-face and brow without undergoing a facelift or brow lift, a new minimally invasive procedure is available. FDA-approved Contour Threads™ are thin, flexible sutures that are threaded underneath the skin from the ear to the hairline to rejuvenate sagging foreheads, eyebrows and cheeks. When the threads are pulled gently, tiny barbs lift the sagging tissue into a subtly higher, more youthful position that reflects the patient's natural facial contours. The sutures are left in place to maintain the effects, which are further enhanced and supported over time as the body produces natural collagen and elastin fibers around the threads. The entire procedure takes about an hour under local anesthesia.

Contour Threads™ are colorless, so they can't be seen even in patients with pale or thin skin. They are made of polypropylene, a material used in dissolveable stitches. The threads can be removed later on for patients who choose to have a facelift or brow lift or who wish to reverse the procedure.

Using painless radiofrequency energy, Thermage "lifts" and tightens loose and sagging skin to restore youthful vigor to patients' faces. The Thermage device stimulates collagen production and temporarily reduces wrinkles while keeping the skin surface cool and comfortable. There is no incision or recovery time. Results last about two years—much longer than you can expect from BOTOX® or tissue fillers like collagen.

Hair Transplant

Customized treatment plans for individual patients using the latest techniques and technology make it possible to succesfully compensate for thinning hair or baldness. During a hair transplant, thin strips of skin containing hair are taken from the back of the scalp and placed in tiny holes in the bald or thinned area. The grafted hair falls out after the procedure but then grows back and should last as long as the hair from the area in which it was taken.
